| A "signature" is images, text, or combination of both that appears below any post you make on the Forums.
DESIGNING A SIGNATURE If you would like to use an image as your signature, you would first need to obtain an image editing program of some sort. Many people use Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro or PhotoImpact. Many of these programs offer free trials. When designing your signature, keep in mind the size limitations. Here at the Forums we allow signatures no larger than 500 pixels wide by 200 pixels tall. Please refer to the example image below. ![]() If designing your own signature using one of these programs proves too difficult, we recommend requesting that another member assist you in the Forums. You'll find there are many members that are more than willing to help. ADDING YOUR SIGNATURE TO YOUR PROFILE Once you have decided on an image or text you would like to use as your signature, you need to add it to your profile in order for it to be displayed in your posts. First click on the My Controls link at the top of the page, then Edit Signature on the left side. You will then see a large box in which you can place your signature. The options available to you are much like the ones you have when posting. You may add text, images, or a combination of both, but remember that your entire signature cannot be larger than 500 x 200 pixels. If it is larger than that, it will automatically be cropped by the forum software, and the resulting image will not look good. If you wish to include an image you or someone else designed as part of your signature, you can place the URL to the image within [IMG] [/IMG] tags. For example: [IMG]http://www.yourdomain.com/yourimage.jpg[/IMG] If you do not have your own webspace in which to upload your image, there are many free image hosting sites that you can use, such as Photobucket or ImageShack. If you have made at least 50 posts on the Forums, you also have the Member Upload feature available to you, where you can host your own images on the Forums. |
