If you click on 7 new pictures, they come up in a window that leads to another window with the actual pix. It's not the forum that needs work, it's Haley's site. Again, it should be a lot more self-contained. Since the entire site is driven by the forums, including the front page, what you speak of is still a function of the forums. That being said, however, I can probably edit the code to make it not behave this way. Will get back to you on that. QUOTE Just to let you know, Haley hasn't said a word in quite a long time on this site, which is supposed to be her home on the web. Can you put a bug in her ear that a lot of fans are wondering whether she's alive? This isn't a very communicative blog. If Haley died in a bizarre BASE-jumping, parachute catastrophe, followed by bizarre and unprecedented mountain cougar attack, I'd probably read about it in the Taipei Times. Otherwise, she's completely off the radar. I'll leave this for Haley to address if she so chooses, since I am in no way her agent or publicist, just a guy who was given the great opportunity to develop and maintain her presence on the web. I do know that she has been quite busy recently over the past few months, working on a new film as well as her album, so I see no reason to beg for her to "make more posts" on the site, as I know she has not abandoned it by any means. I consider it a blessing that she is able to take time out of her schedule every now and then to drop in here and say hello. QUOTE And I agree that there aren't enough pictures of Haley on this site. What about her real-world friends and all their digital camera photos? Coultn't something more relevant and timely be set up? With these infrequent updates, Haley seems a bit vague. When Haley is busy, I update the site with content that I know she wouldn't mind sharing with the public. This site was meant primarily to share news on Haley's professional life, not as a personal blog, but again I am just the technical guy, and will share whatever it is that Haley wants on the site. (IMG:style_emoticons/vb/smile.gif) I'm sure she will come across this post at some point. |

OK their are two things I would like to see or be able to do. I would like to be able to edit my own posts if I need to or want to. The other is I would like the opportunity to delete my own post if I change my mind. These are just my thoughts and Ideas.

I'm so sorry, it was never my intention to disparage the excellent work you're doing here. Updating the main site with the pictures of various promotional events was wonderful. As all the photos clearly show, Haley's been quite busy. And, you were smart to lock down the "Ask Haley" thread until she has time to "consider how to reply" to the different questions posed by her fans. You're obviously doing your job, and doing it well. I'm sure all Haley's fans appreciate the new pictures. And other cool new posts by fans are great, too! (IMG:style_emoticons/vb/smile.gif) Haley's Rare Reflection certainly has a lot of potential!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/vb/wink.gif)
In response to Brian28, below, I'd offer some advice: clicking on edit post on many websites is a nice option, but it's not to be taken for granted. Posting a new response is a commitment. If you're inspired by another member's post, speak clearly from the heart, with a clear vision that travels down from your brain through your shoulders and into your typing fingers, becoming the content that you add to this site. Yes, editing to fix typos should be allowed, but going back to delete a post that was made in haste should be strongly discouraged. I'm sure that Chris will handle any bull###### that's completely off the leash. Choose your words wisely, and say something that will delight all the members of this site. And proofread what you say before you reply. It's sad that Haley's publicist and a committee of handlers has set up a wall that prevents Haley from making comments here and there, as she sees fit, ACCORDING TO HER CHOICE. This site is supposed to be Her Garden. I realize it might take some time to answer the question about whether she prefers acting or making music. But come on!!! "Favorite Car?" It seems like Haley has your number, Chris. Can't she just leave her answer on your answering machine? (IMG:style_emoticons/vb/lol.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/vb/razz.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/vb/lol.gif) And if Ms. Bennet has been "lurking" on her own site, and possibly reading this very message, I'd say: please don't respond to this pitiful plea for "more posts," as Chris so adequately put it. Talk. Tell us about you. What's up with you? I think that the people who signed up to be part of this site want more than just the pretty pictures. They want soul. Your last post on this site was... hmm? As an EFL professional, I frequently find myself writing "sample answers." Keeping all the info you share on a professional basis only, could I prepose a "template" that Ms. Bennett could follow? It's kinda like Mad Libs! Try this: "Hey, it's me! I'm in [place], but I'm about to take a flight to [place] to [fill in the blank]. I've been thinking about [Name]'s question, and I can definitely say that [apples] really make me happy, but I also like [oranges] because [fill in the blank]. I'm still busier than ever, but I totally appreciate all the love and support from my fans." A few words here and there on Haley's blog don't need to be too introspectual, just a shout-out is enough. Every Garden needs water. And Chris, I've gotta say that you're quite the erudite and well-spoken writer. And I respect your perogative for wiping this post off the digital map. Your job is to crack the whip on the members, after all. (IMG:style_emoticons/vb/lol.gif) Peace out. You Know My Name |

Hi Chris,
I have been on this site often, and the only thing I'd really like to see here that isn't here already would be new information updates. (For one thing, it still says that Haley's age is 19 long after her 20th birthday has past!) It would be nice if every so often we could be updated in what's going on in Haley's career. Other than that, you've put together a great site! Thank you! -jlennert (IMG:style_emoticons/vb/smile.gif) |
